Creede Repertory Theatre is pleased to present a FREE community performance of Seeds of Change, as part of its Young Audience Outreach Tour, on November 16, 2018 at 6pm at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. To RSVP, call 970-731-SHOW (7469) or email thingamajigbox@gmail.com.

Inspired by myth, fairy tale and Shakespeare’s The Tempest — Seeds of Change fosters environmental literacy through the story of an ornery young girl who leaves the isolated Isle of Oro where she grew up and embarks on a journey of self-discovery. This story explores topics in environmental science, deforestation, ocean plastic, and habitat loss through wonder and empowerment.

Seeds of Change is magical because it’s…

  • geared for students grades K-6
  • poetic through Shakespearean language
  • a musical that empowers and motivates action
  • emphasizing conservation, environment, science, and math
  • encouraging audience participation
  • reinforcing themes with a study guide and illustrated book

Play, Lyrics, and Book by Lojo Simon; Music By Ian LeRoy; Directed by Melissa Firlit.

Creede Repertory Theatre’s Young Audience Outreach Tour (YAOT) is one of the largest providers of educational theatre to the rural Southwest, serving over 24,000 children in over sixty communities in 2017 alone. YAOT’s mission is to bring high quality musical theatre to young audiences in rural and underserved communities by annually producing an original children’s show that tours throughout Colorado, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arizona, Utah, and Nevada. For our 2018 production, we have expanded into a second tour in order to reach Northwest Kansas and Southern California.

After the performance, each child receives an original book that reinforces the play’s themes and connects with their school curriculum.

Seeds of Change will play at 6pm on Friday, November 16 at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts. RSVP by calling (970) 731-SHOW (7469).
