‘Rock the Cradle’ Benefits New Public Charter School

A dozen Pagosa musicians have gathered their energies to produce ‘Rock the Cradle’ — billed as “a rock concert for families’ — scheduled for Saturday afternoon, November 14 at 3pm at the Pagosa Springs Center for the Arts.

The Pagosa Charter School Initiative, a volunteer non-profit, has been visiting innovative schools around Colorado and New Mexico for the past year, seeking a model for an alternative K-8 public school for Archuleta County. The ‘Rock the Cradle’ concert — featuring Lisa Saunders, DC Duncan, Venita Burch, Greg Milioto, Jen Tuggle, Chris Haas, Matt Degelman, Steven Summers, Jen Sarkis, Steve Sarkis, Ursala Hudson, Bill Hudson, and Clarissa Rizal — will be the first fundraising event hosted by the group.

The Pagosa Charter School Initiative will make a short presentation to update the community on the group’s progress, and parents will be invited to fill out “Intent to Enroll” forms, to help the organization determine the optimum size for the school, which is scheduled to open in 2017.

The concert will include a selection of classic “family-friendly” rock songs — and a few famous songs with re-written lyrics. Ticket are available at the door: $6 adult, $3 child, $12 for the whole family. For more information, call Ursala HUdson at 970-946-6204.
